Hi! I’m Angel, and I’m the Cheftographer! What’s a Cheftographer? Well, it’s my way of marrying two of my favorite things, cooking, and photography! Since a very young age, I’ve been in the kitchen, cooking, baking, decorating cakes, etc. I really love making food for people, and I turned that love into a career. I started out as a waitress, and then I began teaching vegan cooking classes and working with clients in their kitchens. I helped people who needed to change their diets transition to a plant-based diet. I taught my classes at hospitals and community centers, and I even held small group events for clients in their homes. Eventually, I developed my own line of natural food products that became a nationally distributed brand.
Along the way, I picked up another
hobby obsession…..PHOTOGRAPHY! Don’t even get me started about my love for this subject! I pretty much love to photograph everything, and I enjoy entering competitions, and participating in fine art shows. I have a shop on Etsy where I sell my art. After working in the natural foods industry for 15 years, I was ready for something new…. Some way to get back to what I really love, which is creating and sharing healthy, delicious recipes, helping people eat healthier, and to somehow, incorporate photography into my work, and that’s why I started the Cheftographer blog!
I’ve been married to the love of my life, for over 20 years, and we have two boys, ages 6 and 13. So with a house full of hungry guys to feed, I try to simplify most of my meals as much as possible (while still keeping it impressive, right?!). Our whole family is vegan, and I’m gluten free as well. So at this point, you’re probably wondering, what could possibly be simple about that? and I get it… sometimes it’s not easy! I’ve been doing this a long time though, (I’ve been vegan since 1996, and gluten free since 2012) and I love to share what I’ve learned to make it easier for others to eat healthfully, and enjoy their food, even if they have dietary restrictions. I run into people all the time that ask me what we eat, what do I replace eggs with?, can I have that recipe?, and WHAT?! that Mac and Cheese is gluten and dairy free?!! So, now I have a resource for them, where they can get those recipes. I’m also excited about being inspired by the people who read my blog! (Also, having a blog forces me to actually write my recipes down and get them out of my head, so it’s a win, all the way around!)
Speaking of people hanging out here and getting all kinds of great recipes, please send your friends too, so we can grow this blog together! This blog isn’t just for vegan and gluten free peeps, it’s for anyone that wants to make healthy, crowd pleasing dishes and desserts. My passion is recreating familiar foods with healthier ingredients, so your whole family can enjoy a meal together. After all, isn’t that what’s it’s all about? Nourishing your body with healthy food, and nourishing your soul with love of your family and friends?
My mission for this blog is to share what inspires me, in hopes that it will inspire you too. I’m grateful for this space to share my culinary and photographic adventures, and I’m grateful for anyone who takes the time to share this journey with me! Please take a minute to say Hi, leave a comment, share on social media, or even leave your email address so you never miss a recipe post!
And lastly, a disclaimer…. although this is primarily a food blog, you may occasionally find random posts about my latest photography adventure, a family camping trip, my garden, a DIY project, and/or other things that I find inspiring! 😉
Thanks for reading!
